*The Vestigial tail is a birth defect that affects the tail bone area. During early pregnancy, we all develop a small tail that later grows back into the bone due to development of the spinal column. However, in some cases the small amount of tissue are left hanging on the tail bone area. Usually, the piece of skin does not contain bones, but do contain nerves and blood vessels. In some very rare cases there are up to five vertebrae in the small tail- resulting in a true human tail or vestigial tail.
*Drug & alcohol use do not determine whether or not your child will have a vestigial tail.
*Life span is not impacted
*Not inherited (genetically)
*Syptoms & visibile deformities are only the fact of having an abnormal tail on your backside
*Mothers can't affect the risk
*No way to prevent!
*Sometimes it's just a little nub on your lower back

The cause of the vestigial tail is an anomalous prolongation of the coccygeal vertebrae. It can be surgically removed by a pediatric neurosurgeon. You would be able to participate in school, sports, and everyday activities either way because it does not have that big of an impact on your life.
